12oz can from Toby. Dark brown pour, thin ring of head. Sweet, savory, roasty aroma. More sweet roast malts and notes of cinnamon in the taste. Sweet, sugary.

12oz can poured into a nonic.
A: Dark cola pour with a quickly disappearing and fizzy head.
S: Coffee first, immediately followed by a present but non-descript sweetness; is that vanilla cream? There are notes of caramel and toffee, as well as mild cocoa. The roast is very subdued, though I get a whiff here and there of an impression of sweet earthiness. The oats definitely come through and add to the sweetness.
T: More of that sweet-er caramel and cream, maybe brown sugar? Cocoa, oats as well. Outside of that first whiff, the coffee isn't really prominent but I can imagine a bit of mocha here. Honestly; not much going on besides that present sweetness.
MF: Thinner body, especially when you consider that its marketed as an Imperial Pastry stout, and that its brewed with oats. Carb might be a little too aggressive as well.
O: This drinks more like a Milk Brown Ale, if that makes sense, just because the roast is so subdued and there is this constant but never really cloying or defined sweetness. Still, will be interesting to see what Shade's does with this beer in the future, as it will be the base for more Pastry-style stouts.
