another epic flavored beer in this kveik series. the cool thing with this one though is that the base beer isnt a sour ale, its a simple cream ale type, a cool base for these flavors. it has coconut and banana in it obviously, along with cinnamon, vanilla, graham cracker, and lactose, and i like everything about this. its immediately more refined and cleaned up than a lot of the others have been, it holds its head, isnt thick like jelly, and even towards the bottom of the can doesnt get as gross and sedimented as most of them are, an improvement here for sure, it even holds its head. the nose is amazing, coconut out front, maybe lightly toasted, but there is even a meringue property with the lactose its crazy. the banana is mushy and ripe and real, the graham cracker adds some honey sweetness and the pie crust aspect, and cinnamon and vanilla are accent flavors, natural and appropriately restrained, super appealing, just like the pie! the flavor is the same, coconut and banana together, creamy and rich feeling without being diabetic in terms of sugar, the lactose is well placed and dosed. cinnamon makes it baked and warm, vanilla is the great unifier, and the graham cracker really does come though. the base beer seems simple, fluffy and fuller for the style but not radical, i love that its not a sour, i think it leaves more room for the authenticity of the dessert. this is awesome stuff, better than a gimmick, and frankly one of my favorites ive ever had from shades! definitely dont miss this one!
edit: another one of these that is best with a little twirl of the can before opening, reintroduce the sediment where all the best flavors hide. really amazing stuff this one, pie crust and all, and so natural on the banana! yum

Thus far, I am one and one for Shades beer; Peach cobbler was good, Eggnog hard to finish. I am using a nonic glass; the temperature is about 44 degrees. The pour of the beer created a creamy off-white three-fingered head with so-so retention. Dissipation of the collar left bits of fruit on the glass. An unappetizing used mashed banana look represents the color. The beer looks like baby food with foamy bits.
The aromas are cinnamon, coconut, old bananas, graham crackers, toasted malts, subtle sugar sweetness, cereal grains, and a bit phenolic.
I taste coconuts, bananas, cinnamon, oats, graham crackers, toasted malts, fruity sweetness, cereal grains, and band-aids.
The mouthfeel is chewy and thick.
The body is heavy, has low/nil carbonation, and unpleasant finish.
Shade is one good, two hard to drink. This tastes like a melted banana Jamba Juice with fake coconut flavors with a tinny undertone. I do not like it.
