real weird one here in this series, less sour than many of them have been which is cool, more a clean and simple cream ale base, although still a little citric tang to it at the end. its done with carrot, ginger, nutmet, cinnamon, brown sugar, pecans, lactose, and cream cheese powder, yikes! its not as thick and cheesy as it sounds, which is thank goodness for me, its pretty refined looking too for one of these, more head, less sediment, less thickness and body and pulp, and this is less about the cream cheese and lactose, although they do combine for that tangy frosting thing. this is driven by the ginger for me in both aroma and flavor, and unfortunately that comes as the expense of the carrot, the part i was most interested to taste in this. i get a lot of the spices too, less cinnamon than nutmeg, but they both seem to accentuate the ginger even more. nothing from the pecans at all but some definite brown sugar and lactose sweetness. nothing really from the carrots for me, light sweetness and generic earthy properties maybe, but it doesnt taste like root vegetables the way i wanted it to, and its definitely the least obvious of all the elements, along with the pecans. its weird, but its not great, even if this seems improved on the quality side from some of the others, i would not rank it among their most successful weird ones to date, but a fun novelty to share around the table. i like it being clearer and more refined though, good progress there.
