12oz can pours a dark shade of gold with a small finger of frothy white head…there is a fair amount of haze at fridge-temp at least. Sweet coffee leads the nose, definite maple and caramel as well as a nutty maple characteristic. Creamy lactose on the body lends to the sweetness, the coffee is fairly prominent without being roasty or acrid or bitter, and the maple pecan is present throughout with impressions of vanilla and caramel. Creamy, smooth, sweet finish.

ive liked these recent cream ale bases instead of the sour base in this series, lighter and brighter beers, less chunky sediment, easier drinking, i could borderline drink a whole one of these, which just isnt the case with most of them. second straight one with pecans too, following the weird carrot cake edition. pecans, maple, coffee, and lactose in this, and i get way more of the nuts than i did in carrot cake, they are roasty and candied and earthy and right up front, grounding and even balancing in the absence of a richer malt profile too, and the nuts are great with the coffee and the maple, especially in the nose of this lightly murky sort of oddly pale brown or tan beer, good head though and soda-like carbonation. the coffee is bitter but not burnt, better in the nose than the flavor, the maple adds a little richness to this, the base beer seems simple and out of the way on the grain side especially, lactose gives some body but doesnt make it stick to the teeth which is fine, and its really about how they all come together, not what they do on their own. i like how fizzy this is, it keeps fall and wintery flavors a little lighter, and its the coffee that i taste the longest through the swallow. neat beer, still not super dialed in on quality but better than a lot in this series have been. fun one to share, thats how i like drinking these best. thanks to my brother in law for the hook up, nice maple and coffee profile to this, the pecans are delicious, and it all works quite well.
