i wanted to like these beers more, french type saisons, strong for the style, with various additives. this one has mango and pink peppercorn, green peppercorn, passion fruit, and hibiscus, lots happening for sure, and these added ingredients are quite well integrated into the beer, but at this strength and relative intensity, i wanted to taste them a little more. the peppercorns are obvious, but the others are well behind them, more of a generic fruity sweetness running through it than it is any fruit specifically. we all think we taste a little rye spiciness in here on the grain side, but it could just be the peppercorns, although this is definitely maltier than i am used to in the style. fragrant on the nose and floral in the flavor too, i get the hibiscus with the yeast, and a green pear sort of ester to it. light tannic, funky, and winey properties, less of the fruit than i hoped for, and more alcoholic than i reckon it needs to be. i had higher hopes for both this one and the peach edition, although i enjoyed the peach more than this. the fruit is too subtle i think, yet the beer remains sweet and boozy. i like what the peppercorns add, and the carbonation and fluffy feel are awesome, but this could use a little tweaking. some funkier yeast would also be a cool addition...

Pours a very cloudy, dark yellow color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is mild. Lacing is decent. Does have a big tropical fruit aroma with underlying farmhouse yeast. Good farmhouse yeast taste with a big fruity taste at the end. A little on the tart side but way too sweet on the aftertaste. This beer started out good but definitely did not end that way. A little dry on the end. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
