Ruhstaller's Test IPA 13.0. 7.6% ABV. I do wish they would put the differences on the label...
A: Expands out to about a finger and a half of off-white head. Clear, orange with a slight sienna tinge. Very light apple juice in the dimple.
S: Smells a little tropical, and though light, I can smell it from almost a foot away. Banana, and... mango? Slight tangerine. None of the typical hop notes. I'm curious which hops they used here.
T/MF: Well that's not like any IPA I've had. The bitterness is more along the lines of fruit skin and stem, with a touch of cigarette ash. More tropical fruit. I don't think mango is quite right, but something along the same vein. Right after the initial bitterness there is a flare up of fuzz covered, pollenous fruit skin, along with some banana peel. While not my cup of tea, it's a very interesting twist on an IPA. If I had to guess, I'd say the hops are from some Island. They don't taste quite like Kona's, but similar.
Poured from a 22 oz. bottle, into a Belgian tulip glass.
