Poured from 12oz can into a tulip.

Appearance: thick, dark brown hue with lots of murk. Head is a thick finger of compact, creamy dark-tan froth. I think it's very attractive indeed.

Smell: chocolatey and a little bit sweet; it's not overly complex but basically delivers when it comes to a milk stout aroma.

Taste: like the aroma, but a little more forceful. Chocolatey and sweet, but with a reasonable bitterness at the end. There's a bit of vegetal hop character toward the end, which is present pretty often in a beer like this, but overall it doesn't detract too much from the overall result.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess. Presumably this is brewed with lactose, and it's doing its job here nicely.

Overall: I like this beer. It's not perfect, but it's ticking a lot of good milk stout boxes for me. Worth finding and trying!

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a fine, one finger khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of semi-sweet dark toasted malt, lactose, milk chocolate, mild coffee; classic milk stout profile. Flavor is smooth, dark toasted malt with no char, chocolate milk, light vanilla and a hint of nuts. Medium bodied with light to medium creaminess, nice mouth feel. The look, smell and taste of Mud Mountain are all spot-on milk stout. The flavors are all light, almost muted, but really beautifully integrated, giving a mellow, milky chocolate malt flavor throughout the taste into the finish. The middle of the taste is remarkably like a good quality chocolate milk. Quiet, but nicely done and satisfying. I will come back to this one.

22oz bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of chocolate, vanilla and roasted malt. Sweet chocolate and toffee flavors with mild hints of roasted malt.

22oz bottle served in a tulip. Didn't see a date on it, but I didn't look too hard. It's been in my fridge for a long time.

Pours black with a very large brown head and lots of slow carbonation. Smell is yeasty and chocolate.

Taste is chocolate, but not overly sweet, surprisingly.

Mouthfeel is thin, maybe a little oily. Overall, it's pretty good.

Thick on the tongue but not heavy. Good flavor, slightly slightly Smokey. Maple flavors, coffee malt? Dark dark color, nice head. Aftertaste of maple wood.

I'm by no means a stout or sweet beer cicerone, but this is the first sweet beer I've actually liked, ever. Vanilla!
(Having it at The Independent in Everett.)

Very dark appearance with slight tan head that dedicates quickly. Nice mild coffee aroma. Taste is a very smooth nutty and mild coffee without any aftertaste or harshness
