Attractive golden amber in the glass. Head persists nicely. Modest carbonation on the tongue. This is a very different sort of flavor that tastes like cedar, sawdust, and burnt sugar. A touch of vanilla and shades of honey.
There is a fruity bitterness along with chestnut sweetness, and cigars. Warm and toasty overall. Bitter, but more on the woody side. The long bitter aftertaste is a little medicinal. Brewer rates this at 93 IBUs.
This is worth trying as a mystery. I'm at a loss to describe this, except to say it's unlike any IPA, and in any case it's a Lager, so make of it what you will. On tap at the industrial tasting room.
