1 liter plastic bottle 4,0% Abv
Served chilled in an over sized wine glass.
Purchased at the brewery.
Appearance: Golden-amber body (clear), topped with a large white head that displays average retention and leaves patchy lace.
Smell: I don't have much experience with Saisons, but this doesn't smell like any I have had before! Light fruity esters, a touch of sweetness, overripe white grapes and a touch of skunk is all that is on offer! I hope the flavour is an improvement otherwise I might struggle to finish a liter!
Taste: Sadly the flavour follows on from the nose pretty well, with the light skunked notes still present. Other notes include: Fruity notes, overripe white grapes and a touch of herbal hops in the finish. There is a light (but pleasant) bitterness in the finish. Now that i think about it, this tastes a lot like a malt extract pale ale a brewed a few years back.
Mouthfeel: Light (or just over) body with a high level of carbonation.
Overall: Not the worst beer I have had, but I would not buy it again! I hope the other beers I bought from these guys are an improvement!
