The fourth beer in our Halloween horror movie director series. Grisette brewed with spelt and then aged on an abundant amount of house smoked Donko Shiitake mushrooms from our good friends at @woodland_jewel. Beautiful and strange.

Interested in mushrooms then you may be into this beer. Otherwise be intrigued and try it. It has an aroma that has pungent earthy shroom, lemon zest, and dry crackers. Taste is similar to what I expected from the description and aroma. You get the shiitake in the aftertaste for sure.

On tap at the brewpub.
Second beer of the 4th All Hallow's Eve dinner (the first being SaisonHands paired with raw oyster). This one was paired with Salmon Tartine: rye toast, creme fraiche, fennel, radish. Pairing rating: 9/10.
Cloudy pale yellow pour with a medium white head that sank to a ringlet. Smoke and earth in the aroma. Lots of saison character in the taste, but also lots of unique characteristics from the added ingredients: very smoky, and very earthy from the mushrooms. This kind of beer would obviously raise some eyebrows, and was a little much for me at first, but after a couple sips, it came together nicely, and really complimented the smoked salmon well. Crisp yet hearty mouthfeel, medium body. Nice overall, even if it takes some getting used to.
