Pours cloudy bright gold color with a 1 finger snow white colored foamy head that eased down slowly and leaves good foamy lacing with a spotty trail where each sip went down. Great artwork on the bottle, a really cool skeleton picture.
An "Ale fermented in oak" smells very much like a classic farmhouse beer with barnyard funk, musty basement, green apple, souring white grapes, light peppery spices, fresh cut grass, yeast and citrus hops and/or lemon zest. A complex nose that is quite fruity but doesn't really show off the oak barrels used to age and mix this elixir.
Tastes funky up front with barnyard animals notes, coriander, peppery spices, rotting pear, green apple, then a malty touch of sweetness like toffee and toasted grains mixed together. That's followed by orange peel, chalky yeast, weed or piney hops, bubblegum, earthy notes like leaves or tea leaf, grapefruit, lemon zest, biscuit, orange juice and dry herbs. Woody notes appear and linger after each swallow, it almost seems like this brew filtered through cedar chips.
Mouthfeel is tart and almost sour with fruit that seems to have started rotting, slightly bitter citrus notes, a puckering effect and a medium body that allows the mild carbonation to help this brew slide down dry and easy. The aftertaste is fruity and leaves a clean feel like everything evaporated.
The label states "A blend of various IPA's brewed throughout the course of 2015. Fermented in a melange of oak barrels. Blended and dry hopped with Motueka in August 2016. Bottled in September of 2016." That process sure created a very tasty and unique offering which was mostly farmhouse style but mixed with sour notes and a nice barrel influence. A real beer geek's beer, I really enjoyed this brew.

This one pours a bright orange, slightly hazy, with a small head and lots of lacing.
This smells like lemon/lime, grassy funk, chalky funk, and barnyard.
This is somewhat tart and sour, not overwhelmingly so, with a heavy duty chalky and farmhouse funk, citrusy and super drinkable.
This is light bodied and super drinkable, with a good level of carbonation.
This is nothing super complex, but still incredibly drinkable.
