New Year's day 2018 seemed like a good time to crack this one open.
The beers a fairly light, somewhat hazy golden amber color with fairly decent head retention and very light lacing. The nose is fairly complex on the nose, though the barrel aging is pretty apparent. There's a fair amount of vanilla and honey, with some underlying pear, light apricot and a hint of clove. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, with some light tartness on the finish drying this beer out pretty nicely. Mouthfeel is fairly light, though the beer delivers plenty of flavor. The beer doesn't come across as one with a very high abv. (would guess in the 6.5% to 7% range), and the alcohol is otherwise very well integrated into the flavor profile. So drinkability is pretty good.
While nothing extraordinary, I thought this a nice enough beer from Tired Hands. It went quite well with the wife's annual Dungeness crab nachos dish.
