Severe Head Wound is our Pink Goopy Double IPA. Brewed with fluffy gobs of spelt and oats, and a huge helping of fragrant whole hibiscus flowers. Conditioned on luscious red raspberry purée, Madagascar vanilla beans and a touch of freshly ground cinnamon. Hopped and dry hopped violently with Galaxy, Idaho 7, and Chinook. Gloopy, gloppy notes of raspberry cobbler, agua de jamaica, red currant jam, Turkish delight, fresh whipped cream, and maraschino cherry.

Traded for this a while ago, as the date on the bottom of the can read 4/04/18 with "OUCHIE" written above it. Yes, this was listed as an American Imperial IPA but it *almost* felt like a hopped-up Fruit/Vegetable beer because of how strong that presence was. The hue of this beer was similar to an actual severe head wound but thankfully, there wasn't any trauma involved with reviewing this brew!
Of course, this had a dull and muted raspberry hue to it as the outside of the liquid was much lighter than the middle. Plenty of head topped it off and the lacing left behind was quite random but extensive at the same time. Raspberry puree, slush, and spelt filled the understated nose as the taste was quite sweet and crystalline. The cobbler and currant emerged once this fully warmed up as this felt like blackberry pie minus the actual fruit itself. Hard to pick out the hops, whipped cream, and cinnamon but the Turkish Delight gave this a slightly exotic undertone that fully emerged in the aftertaste. Somewhat thick, syrupy, and deep, I never felt the vanilla but was drawn into this more and more as I worked my way through it.
This had enough booze to it but in the midst of everything that was going on, it was hard to taste the alcohol. A bit of it crept up on me by the time I got to the last sip but this was unusual and exotic enough that I never really noticed the booze that was present. As much as I love my hopped-up IPA's and Stouts, it's good to have something that's new and keeps me on my toes. This fit that bill as it held up well over the last year and a half, with no visible sediment or floaties in it. Props to Tired Hands for coming up with something quite unlike anything else I've ever seen or had!

Pink orange in color with haze. Smells of raspberries with some vanilla as well. Full bodied and plush but not too sweet. Very smooth, and drinkable beer.

Poured into a Teku. Interesting look - very hazy with a pink-orange hue. A nice frothy light pink head settled slowly. Big aroma with raspberry, diesel fuel (seriously), lavender, grass, and berries. I noticed the vanilla right up front on the first sip. Sweet which quickly evolved into cinnamon spice, floral notes, raspberries, and citrus hops. A really cool evolution on the palate. Full bodied and plush but not overly sweet. Silky feel. Outstanding and interesting.
