From a corked bottle, pours a beautiful, clear light gold. Nice bright head of foam. Smells like a wild sour--some barnyard funk plus various layers of fruit and hops. Taste is unbearably, undrinkably sour. Like drinking a bottle of vinegar. I could literally feel my teeth dissolving. Too bad, would have been a great beer. As it was, I had to pour it out after a few sips.

On tap @ Owl Farm.
Wine glass. Clear with a watermelon hue.
Smells of grapes, a bit nondescript I know.
Tastes of mellow wheat, white pepper & a while lot of grapes. The fruit has sort of overpowered this. Very little saison character remains. Thin, lacks a yeasty quality, very juicy. As it, it is a dangerous fruited light sour.
Still good, just couldn't tell it was a saison.

Poured from a corked bomber into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Golden rose colored pour... cloudy with fizzy white head. Falls fast.
S: Tart, fruity, and funky. Grape/wine and oak.
T.F: Fruity... some sweetness up front. Tart... rosé wine and oak... grape, pear, and honeysuckle. Some funk and barrel character but not sour. Complex... well carbonated and relatively light bodied.
O: Another fantastic entry into the 'Frequency Illusion' series. The rosé wine barrel works well.. a beautiful and complex beer.

On tap at BeerShop, NYC.
Pours a clear dark amber color with a thin wispy head that quickly dissipates. A thin ring lace also soon dissipates. Towards the end of the drink, the color lightens up to reveal a nice looking rosè wine color.
The nose opens with tart notes of lemon, lime and white wine vinegar. This is followed by a candied fruit aroma that yields sweetness and evokes notes of white grape, and passionfruit. A light bready malt aroma is in the background, as are woody notes of wine barrels and a touch of floral hops perfume.
Tart throughout with a light mouth puckering sensation, yet, there is an underlying vinous, candied grape sweetness that somewhat overpowers the acidity. Flavors of sweet lime, dry cider, green apples, passionfruit, a light peppery spice and a touch of caramelized malt.
Medium bodied with a lively carbonation. The finish is dry with a slightly puckering tartness and a lingering sweetness.
Interesting sour Saison with lots of vinous and woody characteristics. My only qualm is that the sweetness overpowered the tartness.
