super unique beer here, shout out to my brother for sourcing and sharing this, drinking tired hands beers is always a joy, few and far between unfortunately, but always epic. this one is cool, a mature saison refermented on mango, red currants, and jasmine tea, an unlikely combination, but it makes sense, sweet mango, tart currant, floral tea, a little bit of everything in this and its remarkable cohesive, even kind of subtle in some ways. not quite as delicate and lively looking from the bottle as their best beers are, looks like maybe the bottle conditioning came up a little short, and while this isnt still, it looks like its close, and there is some murk and density to it, just a little color from the fruit, no head retention, and more apparent body than necessary. it smells a little more sour than a lot of their stuff, bacterial and bretty too, but like the acid producing agents took over a bit, some tang from the currants evident too, and not enough mango sweetness to fully offset. the grain seems simple, the tea part is fragrant but subtle in the flavor, identifiable but lost a little to the mango, the acidity, and a white wine and wood note, its an accent here, but more comes out as it warms a little. layers of copper, strawberry, cranberry, fresh flowers, cherry candy and medicine, lemon, hay and straw, old brett, oxidized pale malt, and sweet white wine, dessert wine. weird, festive, good, i want more bubbles, but its unique and fun, maybe not quite as dialed in terms of refinement as they can get, but a joy to share with my brother! more summer than fall.
