My first from RedWillow, I went on their website and was not impressed with their being 12 years old. They have two taprooms and they attempt to offer food, but the beer would have to be the draw based on the menus I saw. I also don't like how they use "-Less" I their brew names; funny perhaps to a brewer, but not to a consumer who is always looking for more for their money. Also showing a lack of maturity for a 12 year old, RedWillow really doesn't tout a Good Guy image of community and sustainability and you know what else. So while I'm not feeling good about their business, I still give them good Overall Hugs for lasting 12 years.
I'm also not impressed by Trappless. Looks clear like a lager. Smells are mildly fruity, but I get less than half the fruit they pitch on the label. I also don't believe this is Trappist yeast, or at least it has been kept poorly. The only distinct Taste I get are hops, almost none of the different spices that yeast can impart. I get an odd semi-dry finish and a good tripel is semi-sweet. Slightly above average in fullness, but the hops create discomfort.
RedWillow says that they are best known for their traditional cask ales. They should stick to their knitting IMHO.
