Pineapple & Mango make it clean, crisp & citrusy. Hazy East Coast IPA bursting with tropical lushness.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL. From my favourite The Beer Store on Goyeau St. in nearby downtown Windsor. My second beer from the Scarborough, Ontario brewery, and first for 2025.

I bought a can at the beer store in Ontario 473ml at 6.3%.
Poured into a glass with a 2 finger head
Lots of tropical fruit flavors of pineapple and citrus with a medium to high bitterness level.
Overall an ok IPA with lots of flavors.
Cheers

Yeah, I actually liked tbis. Moderate head settled to a full film, lots of lace as you go. Slightly hazed gold colour, active carbonation. Pineapple on the nose with a whiff of coconut. Pineapple to taste, coconut again (just an aspect of the pineapple). Sweet fruit followed by lingering bitter hops. Slightly ready mouthed offset by a little bite from carbonation. Appetizing summer stuff.

Pours orange and somewhat opaque. Nose is indeed pineapple. Not as complex as I expected. Taste is fruity but not overly complex. Finish is frizzy. Overall OK.

473 mL can from Superstore; best before Oct 17 2019 and served barely chilled. Had this right after a can of their flagship Hops & Robbers IPA, mostly for comparison purposes.

Pours a lightly fogged, pale golden-yellow colour, producing one finger of foamy, soapy white head that erodes within the next two minutes. A messy, arcing swath of lace is left in its wake, along with a frothy collar of bubbles and some patches of film on the surface. Very fruity aroma: pineapple fruit and juiciness are the focal points, with lesser hints of tangerine and mango also coming through. I know that 'flavouring' was used instead of real fruit, but it actually doesn't smell egregiously artificial to me - though it does come off a little too candy-sweet.

It tastes ok; the pineapple remains a force - a constant, prominent presence from start to finish, and it does come off as rather artificial. There's also a grainy, wheaty pale malt backbone, with some sugary juice sweetness and an unexpected hint of vanilla towards the back end, as well as an earthy, leafy hop bitterness - which, more than anything else here, kind of clashes with the pineapple flavouring, which carries on into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with light carbonation levels that gently brush up against the tongue; smooth in texture. Lacking in drinkability - the further I made my way into the glass, the less desire I had to finish it.

Final Grade: 3.35, a B-. Hops & Robbers Pineapple IPA was alright to try, but this one just didn't do much of anything for me - the aftertaste was a bit unappealing, and the pineapple didn't feel authentic. Basically a fruit beer, but since there's no actual fruit involved I suppose that's a matter of opinion. Served colder, in a non air-conditioned environment, I suppose I could see the appeal of this beer - it's certainly better than their soured IPA - but right now I'd much rather be drinking their Grapefruit IPA, or their standard issue IPA. Worth a shot if you love pineapple beer, but it's not for me.
