At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, from my favourite The Beer Store on Goyeau St. in nearby downtown Windsor. My first beer from the Toronto, ON brewery.

473 mL can from the LCBO; best before Dec 28 2024 and served slightly chilled. Reviewed from notes taken last summer.

Pours a foggy golden-yellow colour, boasting an inch of soapy, foamy white head that recedes gradually over the next five minutes. A full curtain of lovely lace is draped across the glass, with a wide, creamy collar and frothy cap living on - looks very appealing, especially for a kettle sour. Citrusy tangerine sweetness on the nose, with lesser notes of lemon rind, gym bag funk, grains and maybe a touch of white grape.

Very tame - you could call this an introductory sour, except it's not a very good introduction. Citrusy flavours of tangerine at the forefront, with notes of grainy malts & lemon rind by mid-sip. Hints of grassy, floral hops later on, finishing with tangerine and a little bit of lacto-derived armpit funkiness that fades into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with low-ish carbonation that softly agitates the surface of the palate. Smooth mouthfeel, with decent drinkability due to its low acidity.

Final Grade: 3.4, a tolerable B-. Sucker Punch Tangerine Sour is not that great: the tangerine lacks oomph, and the sour itself is also quite weak. Come to think of it, those are basically the same complaints I made about their previous Sucker Punch variant (red raspberry), i.e. not enough fruit, not enough sour. I must therefore assume that Double Trouble is deliberately minimizing the sourness in an attempt to make an approchable sour - however, the end result is simply not that satisfying. The funny thing is, I actually dislike this Sucker Punch *less* than the others so far, but I still have no interest in drinking it again.
