Dark red color. Amazing sour nose that gets me excited. Unfortunately the taste fall thin based the nose. Finish is quick. Almost great beer but it falls short, still good.

an amazing wild ale here from trve with boysenberries and raspberries. interesting denver gets two boysenberry sours in the same week or two, along with crooked stave. i have a new appreciation for the fruit after these beers, and continued revere for trve after this one. its deep red in color and quite cloudy with yeast sediment. the color pushes purple in the right light, and brick red in another. the nose here is more sour than fruit, although there is a jammy quality with sweetness and pectins appearing, and heavy lactic tartness. it makes my mouthwater and it makes me feel like summer at the same time, i love beers that take me places. the berry flavor is divided, i get the sweet richness of the boysenberries and the summery tartness of the raspberries, both as true to form as i can imagine. the base beer is interesting, seemingly built for the fruit, with a likely pale wheat malt base and some body that really helps the fruit come out and hold on. the sourness is pretty intense, especially as this warms up, although its over 8% alcohol is awfully well covered up. one of those special beers you sort of wish the whole world could taste, but also are sort of thankful you live in the place that lets you be one of the lucky few. something to be treasured here. the sour program at trve is elite level.
