i expected a little more out of this one, i always have high hopes for trve beers because their ceiling is so high, but this is just alright in my opinion. hazy with a copper hue and a nice tall white head. looks a little darker than expected, but still rather appetizing. smells like rye and french type saison yeast, sharp and winey, with no appreciable funk in the nose. not sure why i thought this would be bretty and old worldy, but its not at all. almost too clean with the yeast in the taste, a slight fruity element blends with the spice from the rye malt to deliver a very flavorful beer, but its not the kind of saison i expected it to be, and i find it driven much more by grain than by yeast. some crystal malt sweetness in there with the peppery rye, that aspect is delicious, but i wanted some farmy weirdness to it, and without it the beer seems to be missing a key piece. the mouthfeel is great though, realy lively carbonation and a deep medium body thats nice in cold weather. good not great overall though, a few tweaks could really set this off...
