This is a pretty tough beer to describe for a so-called "French style farmhouse" ale. It has a golden amber appearance, prickly head, the color, the smell of a lager. But then.. but then... you sip, and the farmhouse tart aspect bites. It's beguiling and mystifying. A sour lager-like ale. One of the more interesting beers that TRVE brews (along with Ostara, and their Grisette that appears once in a while). Nicely done. I can't really comment and break it all down to the individual traits as it is really hard to compare. But again, TRVE brings the category-shattering thunder.

Had on tap at The Beer Temple as a run-up to an event organized by Half Acre for brewers who don't get distributed here.
I suppose it is OK for brett to make its way into the broader "farmhouse" style. But this caught me by surprise; expecting a traditional saison. My advice to TRVE would be to use the brett more moderately. Same goes for other tart-inducing yeast ... or not call it a farmhouse ale. Brewing has a tradition and the sour here was extreme. If I could separate out the sour (and I can't), I'd say this was a well-crafted beer.

A:
Pours a sort of hazy copper color with a skiff of white head. Okay retention; no lacing. (3.75)
S:
Lightly tart funk, hay, lemon zest, sawdust. (4)
T:
Quite tart with a very medicinal finish. Acetic sourness with some brown toast and a rising medicinal finish in the back of my throat. (3.5)
M:
Medium body with moderate carbonation and a bitter, fairly dry finish. (3.5)
O:
Interesting beer that is nothing like what I expected.
It is not quite a saison in my mind which kind of caught me off guard (it says "Farmhouse" on the bottle, maybe I made an ass out of u and me). Lots of sharp tartness that overwhelms everything else except a little malt in the flavor. It is not terribly complex (god I sound like a douche...). What I mean is that there are a few things going on but the beer as a whole is pretty much clean, sharp tartness and a faint hint of malt. It is good, but between the overwhelming tartness and the aspirin-in-the-back-of-the-throat bitterness that shows up at the end it left a little too be desired. (3.75)

A- 375ml bottle into a lambic glass with a pale amber-orange body. The crown above the body is frothy and rises up to about half a finger. Poor head retention but a small ring at the edges leaves substantial rings of lace.
S- Tart and fruity with Saison yeast providing the backdrop. The mixed cultures make their presence known with what hints at lactic acid. Apples and sour pale wine grapes are especially prevalent.
T- The aroma hinted at this a bit but it becomes especially apparent here: the beer just doesn't balance or meld that well between the different influences. It feels much too fruity with apple and grape juice coming to mind. Other sips taste somewhat like a lactic, musty young lamic mixed with a fruity, spicy Saison. The flavors just dont marry each other.
MF- Light bodied with a low end carbonation coming off a bit thin as the lack of carbonation fails to make the texture really puff up. Just a bit frothy and it ends with slick sourness.
In the end it feels like it oscillates between golden sour ale, saison and generic fruit juices full of apple and grape. The beer just doesn't come together on the palate and the fruity flavors are overpowering.

Pours a light copper/ dull orange color. no head even on aggressive pour just pond scum, kind of sad looking beer need a little head anyway.
Aroma is tart fruits on a semi sweet bready malt base some brett like or funky notes.
Taste is tart fruits vinous like almost White Zinfandel like, no real malt sweetness that was in the nose. Mainly just dry tart acidic like like the label says. Defiantly not very complex or as rewarding as a good wild ale or farmhouse ale what ever they want to call it.
Mouthfeel is light with fairly lively carbonation.
Overall I was kind of wondering what this was doing in Florida but having tried it now I know for the price this is a sub par beer guess they have to ship it out of state to sell it. Having had this over priced simple brew I would not recommend it or anything from this Brewery but that is just me.

Bottle seems off. Buttery as hell. Smell is off, with some buttery, nutty aroma. Taste is much of the same, with a greasy mouthfeel and an oily flavor.
