Poured from a pint can, the body is a light gold, very clear. The head is brief small and disappears rather quicklly. No lacing.

Aroma is a funky sour and light citrus. Almost day old wine sourness. Not unpleasant. Light floral notes upon warming.

Taste follow nose. This ale is quite tart, and more tart than sour. The lemongrass serves to balance tartness and is somewhat successful. A vegetal flavor is present and I'll chalk it up to the dandelion. A light waft of sweetness way in the background once warmed.

Mouthfeel is good with light carbonation.

16oz can served in a snulip. @beergoot sent it to me a few months ago, been sitting in my fridge ever since.

Pours clear light yellow, initial smallish head dissipates to basically nothing, ghost of a rim around the edge but a lot of active carbonation is visible. Smell is tart -- lemon and wet vegetation. Something old-wet-wood-like. Some saison funk.

Taste emphasizes the lemon but brings in some mystery fruit tartness. Saison funk reminds me of Dupont, though it's way tarter. Something in the fruity tartness gives it a bright vibe. More than just lemon going on in the citrus domain, I think there's some lime in there too.

Mouthfeel is light, smooth with a little bit of a prickle. Nice beer.

They did can this, we just got some at my store. The dandelion is interesting and something to get used to. I wish their beers didn't cost an arm and a leg but I get it based on what they're usually trying to do. I need to have this a couple more times but definitely good beer.

Also....I kind of wonder how many metalheads stan this brewery and inflate ratings because that's Trve's main demographic. Just cuz a brew is named after your favorite Celtic Frost or Death song doesn't mean it's gonna be GREAT. Lol.

L - Golden ale indeed, decent head, delicate lacing. But you don't buy this beer for its looks.
S - Sweet dandelion Sting video fields of gold. This is amazing. Put it in a proper glass (big), like a stemless wine glass for reds, and the dandelions explode on the nose. Give it 20 minutes, THEN you get the undercut of the lemongrass, too, and as it warms over 40-45 minutes, you'll get aromas of Earl Gray/Lemon tea as well. Fascinating.
T - A little more restrained on taste, since it's a tart ale (not super sour); but you get the citric lemon aspects in spades, and some flower notes. Fascinating golden ale mixed culture here. Very complex, very nuanced.
F - No problems on mouthfeel; fills the palate for 5.7% - one of TRVE's strengths - great carbonation, and some natural activity from the can here.
O - one of the better mixed culture tart-sour beers I've had in years. WELL DONE.

 

Another beer from the May 2019 trip to Denver. Had this at the source.

Pours light orange and dark yellow 1/4" white head. Lemon-flower-grass like aroma. And then more lemon.

Taste was easy going, one of the better things about their sours is that none of them are jacked up levels of sour, they're enjoyable and not battery acid. Acidity is present but not problematic. Mild honey impression also helps contribute to the nice and minorly dry mouth feel. Carbonation is above average. Anything wood like used here doesn't come through if they did. Bonus points for its relative affordability. Alcohol isn't noticeable.

I wouldn't say the dandelion character here is obvious, but there is an herbal, floral component throughout the entire drinking experience that is well done. The golden ale base works, nice to see that get a little love, might be easier intro kind of wild thing than using a complex phenolic saison base that a lot of places do. Funk/brett notes it seemed this was too clean for that.

L:. Pours a pale straw apricot color with a small white head and no lacing on the glass.

S:. Some nice funk, mixes with some tropical fruit, a nice sour, some lemon and a delicate floral including dandelion.

T:. A nice funky sour, mixed with lemon peel, a delicate floral including dandelion , a touch of pear. Delicate taste, there is a lot going on here.

F:. Light body, delicate carbonation.

O: This is a very nice mixed culture saison.

 

 

 

 

 

 

New art adorns the bottle and it's even more gorgeous, I couldn't wait to get it open.

Clear, pale gold color with a thin layer of patchy foam, fine thick lacing for a lambic or gueuze style ale. Very hazy after swirling around and pouring in the dregs.
Lots of lemony notes, very bright, fresh, tart. Wildflower pasture after a soft rain with some faint sour aromas. Definite but delicate dandelion. Extremely faint alcohol found after digging for it.
Much more sour, tart, effervescent flavors much like and oude gueuze or lambic with, again, a delicate wildflower flavor underneath. Acidic at first and slightly lemony, grassy, flowery in the finish. No apparent hops or hoppy bitterness, but some very faint herbal bitterness seemingly from the dandelion and lemon. Faint cool alcohol amidst the lemon acidity towards the front. A little bit of clover honey when it warms. Some sweet cupcake.
The mouthfeel is prickly at first, but briefly, with another tickle at the end. Smooth for the styles of beer it's similar to but still puckering and mouthwatering. Slight heat coming out towards the end of the glass. Very drinkable.

Really nice, Ostara is something I would drink over traditional a oude gueuze during the spring and summer if I lived nearer to the brewery.

From a 375 ml bottle (no date) to a tulip.

A-The beer is light golden in color and almost perfectly clear. There is virtually no head with the white foam subsiding immediately after I pour. Not even a collar remains. No bubbles either.

S-The aroma is mildly funky at first, but my nose soon adjusts and I pick up some of the advertised flavors, e.g., lemongrass and dandelion. Those leafy notes mix nicely with a lemondrop sour flavor and some cereal grain flavor. Good balance of sour, pale grain, and adjunct flavors.

T-The taste takes the smell up one notch. A nice sour flavor suggests pear and lemon pairs well with a leafy/floral note. The beer never gets overly acidic or bitter (like you might expect with dandelion), but the finish is pretty dry and puckering.

M-The body is on the light side of things with a highly effervescent carbonation. It is easy drinking for a beer this sour.

O-This is one the better TRVE beers I have had in a while. The balance between the leafy notes and fruity sour notes is really well done. It is surprisingly easy to drink, but it is definitely interesting enough to sip on.

 

 

 

Pours a nice hazy brass color. Minimal head, no lacing...vigorous swirl brings about tons of bubbles. Aroma is nice and floral and some lingering malt.
The feel of the beer hits first. Bubbles and some tartness. They give way to lemon and mild citrus. The bubbles help this beer a lot, but maybe they get in the way a bit. It's an interesting struggle between crispness/refreshing-ness and overpowering the flavors. And with the finish a bit light, I think the carbonation is too much. It just doesn't seemed balanced. Still, I crushed it
