Enjoyed at Trve in Denver, CO. POUR: On tap into a 12oz tulip glass. APPEARANCE: Gold and hazy. Cant see through. No bubbles to speak of. Very thin white head. Some lacing clinging to the sides of the glass. On the swirl, the head rises and falls. AROMA: Lots of wheat aromas on the initial sniff. Interesting for a saison style as listed. Almost reminiscent of a Hefeweizen. Some pepper and spice present to push it into the Saison camp. TASTE: Nice pepper and spice combo on the tongue. Nat as yeasty as a typical Saison. Definitely dry and very crackery on the palette. Somewhat bitter on the tongue but scant. AFTERTASTE: Finishes with a dry crackery like flavor. A bit of bitter on the back end but nothing to complain about. Some malt is present as well on the finish. NOTES: Kind of thinking this one is mislabeled. Looks dark golden like a DIPA or IPA. Smells and tastes like a Hefeweizen but is labeled as a Saison. Although their is some Saison like qualities, I think this one is a bit of a mystery brewski. RESULT/ RATING: Good/ 3.5 out of 5.

a saaz dry hopped saison, which sounds amazing, but this is one of the slppier and least impressive beers from trve i have had in a long time. its super thick, yeasty and muchy orange, maybe near the end of the keg, or the very beginning of a new one, but its too hazy, even chunky looking, although there is a nice inch of white head on top. the aroma and flavor are somewhat bland on the yeast considering how much of it there obviously is in here and how interesting and unique their mixed culture beers all seem to be. tons of wheat here, maybe some oats, fresh but starchy and tannic at the same time, they have pulled more than just fermentable sugar from the malts this time, its chewy and thick. i dont really dislike it so much as maybe i am describing here, it just lacks the refinement of so many of their others. furthermore, the saaz hops is almost lost to all the yeast and gunk in here, a somewhat more subtle and delicate hop, its limey grassy notes are minimal in here, and thats the real shame. i miss that aspect. they could rework this to be a special beer, and its a great idea to try and showcase this hop in this type of beer, but the execution is not there this time...
