Shared at the Green Bay tasting from a 16 ounce can into tasting glass. Pours very hazy golden yellow color with a small dense white head with great retention and spotty soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of lemon, lime, orange peel, red/green apple, pear, peach, white grape, grains of paradise, melon, wood, peppercorn, pine, herbal, floral, grass, and Brett funk. Light-medium herbal bitterness and spicy yeast finish. Medium high carbonation and light med body. Crisp clean refreshing finish. Lovely farmhouse yeast character, with balanced spices.

Hazy translucent orange; small white head, good lacing.
Smells like light perfumy orange oil, crisp crackery wheat malt, mild grassy hops and light caramel hints.
Tastes like orange essence infused into a nice witbier, good wheat malt body, hints of peppery spice, cracked grains, dried grass, mild sweetness, yeasty but fairly clean finish.
Great beer. Very sad to see they're closing. :-(

always fun to check in here and have some beers, get lips on the latest, and this is a cool one for this time of year, early fall in the air but this still rings summery, brewed with orange and grains of paradise, which always makes me think of when sam adams summer ale was a relevant thing. anyway, they call this nordic, which might suggest some kveik yeast, but its actually pretty simple on the ferment, especially as trve stuff goes, cleaner rather than funky, only lightly estery, a subtle pear or green apple note drying it out a bit in aroma and flavor and setting up the juicy orange aspect really effectively. lightly hazy but not messy or heavy looking beer, high headed from the tap. aroma and flavor are a touch sweet with the orange, but also acidic enough that it suggests real fruit, some pithy rindy bitterness as well as that essential oily zested element, very fresh, late flavor climax with it. the grains of paradise are herbal, hint at white pepper, coriander, and lemon peel, all of which work with the orange, the somewhat starchy base, and serve to brighten this right up. i think the yeast brings subtle vinous character and its not quite tangy, subtly complex and cohesive overall, drinkable and smooth, plenty carbonated, fresh and with almost health tonic properties. neat recipe and predictable solid execution from one of colorados best!

16oz canned sometime in June
6% ABV
It should be noted that this is a Kveik Nordic Farmhouse ale and not a true Saison. Unfortunately Nordic Farmhiuse Ale, or even Kveik Ale is not a listed beer style on BA yet.
On the pour, 2 fingers of foamy, yet fluffy white head formed, then over a couple minutes dissipated to a ring around the edge of the glass. The body is a hazy deep golden yellow.
Aroma is bright and yeasty, with an over exaggerated lager yeast aroma, and some bright orange citrus as well a sa bright tartness. There is a solid bready maltiness behind it all.
Taste is similar to the aroma with the brightness of the citrus right up front, but the yeast becomes much doughier, and the overall impression is that the beer is quite sweet, with a grainy, breadiness as well as some light spices on the back. No bitterness.
The feel is quite drinkable and crisp, especially for the ABV and relative sweetness of the flavor. The finish is medium long, but is relatively neutral in terms of mouthful, the malty flavor just sticks around.
Overall this is a very unique beer among the shelves at a liquor store, and it's pretty good. Maybe a bit sweeter than I'd like, but it is executed surprisingly well for this style from an American craft brewery.

The color is honey golden clear yellow. There is a two-finger foam top, which disappears quickly. The smell is sweet, bready, and funky. Honey-scented sourdough bread. The taste is peachy, bready, sweet, sour, malty, yeasty, and grainy. Quite pleasant. The mouthfeel is clean, vibrant, and crisp. Overall, it is delightful. Nordic farmhouse ale is a style I wish was more common. This beer was executed very well.

I had a hard time convincing myself that this was a saison. It's much sweeter than most, almost like a Belgian dubbel or tripel, rather than the farmhouse peppery notes that you usually get. It's 7%, so it is sort of heavy, but I could easily have put down a few of these. It's very good, just might not be what you would expect. Then again, that's what this brewery does.
