"...made with a special seasonal French Saison yeast which adds slightly tart lemony and fruity flavors to the beer....10% flaked rye added to the grist...Pacific Jade hops."
Pours nice and clean into a Relic pint glass with 2 inch white head. More of an amber colored brew than straw.
Aroma has some nice crisp notes of hop/rye spice, earthy overtones and even a slight must.
Taste is bright, clean and full of such great quaffability it keeps you reaching for the glass. Tartness from the yeast is present, and then comes the spicy rye finish. sharp and smooth. Some citrus from the hops.
This appears to be an updated version of the brewer's French Farmhouse Ale (Summer 2012 Experimental Series #4), which also had some rye in it. But this brew really showcases the rye without being too over the top. Nicely balanced. Very good.
I paired this with a nice baked cod filet dinner. The flavors of the fish blended nicely with the crispness of this beer.
