I got a can of this beer from "The Shop" at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Calgary whilst there for work. It poured an opaque dark amber with off white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had roasty notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with dark roast malt base with light pine resin hints. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

On tap at Bank & Baron P.U.B. - Calgary, AB
L: cola colored ale with a foamy beige head
S: roasted barley, coffee, dark cocoa
T: caramelized grain, roasted barley, coffee, cacao, cola, earthy hops
F: medium body, ample carbonation, balanced finish
O: decent black ale. I like these to be hoppy and found this to be more balanced, not that that’s a bad thing

L: Pours a dark brown with hints of mahogany brown where the light hits, no head or lacing.
S: Some roasted malt, a slight cherry fruit, a slight bit of chocolate and slight smoke.
T: Slightly cola like, some sweet malt, caramel, a bit of berry and slight hop, some smoke, not bad but the cola is a slight turn off.
F: Slightly cola like, medium body.
O: A decent beer that has some cola like characteristics.

The color on this is fantastic. Deep brown, almost black.
There are roasted grain notes but very little in the way of hop aroma.
I find it a bit watery (thin on body) but I have no complaints about the bitterness level of the hops that I can now taste.
Quite drinkable, and light enough for the summer months as well.
