1st review of this beer on BA is worth zero karma points. But at least you get to know it drove the company into the ground and is now a jobber. Had a can of this brought back, so yeah George Strait, Fort Worth does sometimes cross my mind. I dunno, I thought the beer would have more color to it. Brighter. I mean they call it purple drink, but its not purple. Obvious Jerry Seinfeld moment. Pours more of a full on amber/dark amber territory. Off white 1/6" head. Kenny Rogers is on the jukebox with the Gambler.
The aroma had a light raspberry influence. Looking back at the beer, you can see it is probably an amber or brown ale base because the raspberry has this pink/red influence on it. I guess the commercial tug job says a golden ale, but I dunno, it got that maltyboi look.
Raspberry and caramel for a lightly unexpected bitterness. Sour and tartness power is about a 3 on the 10pt wild ale scale. I think I wanted to like this more than I did. Just didn't pop fruit wise despite the designation and 1lb per gallon of raspberries. Simple kettle sour forward. Peticolas has been a mixed bag thus far. I think on paper this beer sounded better than it was, just didn't display enough fruit or refreshing aspect, had a heavier, maltier contingent that undercut what I came here for.
