On-draught at Wild Workshop, Wellington.
The latest release in our ongoing series of foraged flower and fruit beers. The concept is simple. Freshly foraged wild blackberry flowers are plunged into a light golden base wort creating a spontaneous fermentation using only the wild yeast present on flowers. The beer is then allowed to age and develop in oak wine barrels before being refermented on blackberry fruit. The result of this brewery outing is a delightfully tart, vibrant red sparkling beer busting with wild berry flavour.

Succulent berry. Sour twang. Obvious acidity. Faint red wine, barrel wood, and acetic acid notes. Not terribly tart, honestly. More dry and sour than sweet, but well balanced. Still, those after a jammy blackberry ale won't find it here.
Blackberry could be more pungent, and more oaky flavour could help round it out.
A lovely sour ale with obvious lactobacillus bacteria. I think I get acetobacter too. Well cultured.
One of Garage Project's best I've tried to date.
High B+ / VERY GOOD
