The can art has stranged significantly for the better but does not have a freshness date. At first, this lager poured a nice-looking bright gold with a foamy head; however, after completing the pour, the lager became quite hazy and murky - this is an unfiltered lager.

Not much aroma detected - perhaps some faint citrus.

The can label describes this lager as a "German-Style" pilsner; it is neither German-style nor pilsner, but a very sweet take on a lager. The flavor is akin to American wheat ale and is rather tasty for what it is: light, refreshing with a solid malty sweetness with a nice hop component to keep it refreshing. If I strictly judged this beer by style, the score would be much lower. It is an okay lager but not one I would seek out again. I hope the Zeke pale ale I bought from this brewery is an improvement over this one.

Appearance: Pale cloudy gold. Unfiltered. Fluffy white head with good head retention, fast rising bubbles.

Aroma: Has a strong herbal, maybe almost chemical smell that is hard to describe.

Flavor & Aftertaste: Same strange herbal or maybe band-aid like taste. Moderate bitterness.

Mouth feel: Medium to light bodied and dry. Moderate length finish, that is crisp and appropriately bitter.

Overall: I like many beers from this brewery, but did not enjoy this one. I have tried a different batch three different times to make sure I'm getting their best effort. This third one is better than the last two. That said, it still has a strange aroma and flavor I have not encountered with any of the dozen or so German Pils I've had (import or domestic). It is hard to describe - a chemical or band aid like aroma/flavor. In fairness, this is one of the few unfiltered German Pils I've had, but still have not encountered similar aroma/flavor in other unfiltered German Pils. Unfortunately, I can say this is not a beer I will drink again. Don't let that stop you from trying it if you are reading this review. I've seen other reviews that do not have the same description, so you may have a different impression. Drain pour for me, unfortunately.

P.S. - Turns out the brewery had a batch of infected beer.

12 ounce can - Charlie's Beer & Wine in Marietta, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a lightly hazy, pale-looking, straw-hued body with a slim, short-lived, white head.

Smell: Sweet-smelling, lightly grainy with a modest note of lager yeast and slender, understated fruitiness.

Taste: Kicks off with a sweet-tasting maltiness, a soft white bread breadiness sprinkled generously with castor sugar. A show of lemony fruitiness, nominal bitterness present, with little discernible hop character beyond that, leaving things to finish nearly as sweet as they began.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Far from my favorite BHB offering, it falls fairly short on hop character and leans noticeably sweet, curbing the beer's clean, refreshing qualities.
