*A cranberry infused version of their Fighting Bishop.
Appearance: Poured a gently hazed, reddish-golden, oh, let's just go with cranberry-tinted body.
Smell: Slightly sweet-scented malts, yeast-derived scents, and p-corns (even some alcoholic wafts) are noted amongst the aromatics, but, it is primarily smelling of the cranberries.
Taste: Kicks off with a jolt of tangy, tart cranberries (also with a nibble of tannic berry skins), though there is a complimentary sweetness adhered to it. The underlying Belgian-style brew, with it's tastes of soft malts, phenolic spiciness, earthy peppercorns, and fruity esters are present, but they do take a backseat to the bright cranberry character. I mean, it is cranberries here. They're proudly a sharp, snappy fruit. It's not no bland, ho-hum Red Delicious!
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.
Overall: The Blood Bishop is a fun, fine one-off special. Be it canned cranberry jelly or homemade cranberry sauce, I politely pass, and skip right to the, well, anything else during Thanksgiving dinner. However, I'm glad I took the time, on 2:00PM this past Saturday, to indulge in a few cranberries.
