This is different from most wild ales I've had. It's sour but it's also smoky and somewhat woody. Not smoked wood, but mushroom stalk-like.
The color is...it looks a bit like the tannic water of Tequamenon Falls...less coca-cola though. Almost no head retention or lacing, not that I look for that in this style, really.
The smell is sour, a bit urine-like. But not overwhelmingly so...it smells a bit like an unfamiliar person.
The taste is slightly sour and ashy. I one had a dish that was oyster ash (it was molecular gastronomy) - more burnt than fishy, but more like the burnt ghost of fish. This has about a 1/10th essence of that taste with much less salt. Add a little grass and saddle leather to that impression. At the back of the tongue near the adenoids, there's a lemony hint as it goes down. The aftertaste is dirty lemon.
The mouth feel is thin and watery with a bordering line of stinging bubbles just coating your tongue.
I like this beer! I'm sure I've described something that sounds dreadful, but it's something I would order again.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
