Smooth from start to finish, Hermit is appealing to the senses. The aroma of bourbon characterized by vanilla and burnt molasses stays true upon tasting. It appears black and murky, with a nice tan head. The feel is thick and velvety. Hermit is definitely a beer to sip and enjoy while it lasts.

750ml bottled May 2016
Pours dark maroon ruby red with a dense creamy khaki colored foam head. Smells like rich dark fruits, plum, raisin, currants, boozy cherry, molasses, brown sugar, charred oak, dark caramel, vanilla, toffee, mild apple, banana, spice, malty grains, with earthy grassy herbal pine. Tastes like plums, raisin, currants, cherry, walnuts, molasses, dark caramel, toffee, vanilla, graham crackery malt, charred oak, brown sugar, mild banana, apple, spice, with earthy grassy herbal pine. Feels medium bodied, slick with moderate low carbonation. Overall a really nice barrel aged quad.

The bourbon character enhances the raisin, prune, and fig notes and adds a touch of vanilla. Not much heat at this ABV. I could use more richness to carry these flavors.

Ruddy brown reddish color. Lots of vanilla and toffee up front, dark fruits - figs, raisins and plums and oak. Medium light bodied. Lower card, smooth sipper. No alcohol detected. It's a fine BA quad for sure.
