Poured into a stange and a tulip, the appearance was basically the same in both other than a longer lasting head in the stange. Foamy yet fizzy, no lacing. Continuing on in the Berliner Weisse tradition, this was definitely a Berliner Weisse. The aroma started off with sour-ed wheat, some lemon rind - semi-acidic with a subtle bitterness. Pineapple is there, but fairly far underneath. The flavor leans to the sour-ed wheat first. And then the acidity shows a decent effort to grip, but let’s up with the sweet pineapple. No aftertaste. Quick dry semi-sour finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Mild carbonation. Good level of acidity in the feel without it becoming overly done. Pineapple smooth semi-sweetness helps to cut very nicely. Overall, Berliner Weisse, yes! Extra for creativity with the pineapple. I would love to have this again, preferably in the Summer.

Fairly attractive light yellow brew, clear with little head production.
The aroma is, in a word, awful. It smells of dirt, weed, and manure all blended together. It took me several whiffs to fully comprehend the depth of the awfulness, and then a touch of bravery to dive into the glass for a sip.
I'm glad I did, however, as this is a very tasty brew. Quite tart and sour - if you can separate the two - the style influence is not lost here. There's a dirtier rustic quality, as well, not unlike milk peppered with dirt, that I find unique to the Berliner Weisse style. The pineapple adds a huge tart note at the front end, and a sweet, juicy note on the back end - a very nice complement to the style as a whole.
One of my companions noted this as a beer that can peel the enamel off your teeth; if that's the kind of American sour you like, you won't be disappointed.
Slick and lively feel; exceptional drinkability, despite the tartness.
