Pour is a very dark brown hue, minimal off white colored head with decent lacing. Aroma is of a solid hefe, plenty of banana, hints of bubblegum with plenty of wheat. Hints of chocolate malt. Tastes more like a dry stout than the aroma suggests. Hints of chocolate, subtle coffee and a nice amount of roasted malt. Finishes very dry.

L - Pours opaque pitch black with two finger dark beige head, relatively large bubbles for a wheat.
S - Not a lot in the nose. A bit of wheaty smell, some banana, a bit of chocolate. Smells of a dry stout.
T - Strong chocolate flavor, notes of coffee, banana, yeast, cherry. Finishes a bit tart with some nice complexity and minimal to no bitterness.
F - Much lighter than it looks and you would expect, more of a wheat feel than the chocolate/stout feel. Feels well-carbonated even after its been sitting a bit. Very drinkable. What I would call a lunch beer.
O - Very refreshing yet complex. Definitely one of Night Shift's best and pretty different from what you'd find anywhere else.

Pours black with a creamy frothy brown foam head. Smells like fruity yeast, some banana, apricots, dark fruit, clove, chocolate, caramel, toasty bready wheat, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes yeasty and fruity with notes of banana, apricot, tangy dark fruits, clove, chocolate, caramel, nutty toasty bready wheat, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium bodied, creamy with moderate carbonation. Overall a real nice and interesting hefeweizen with chocolate.

Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch light tan head with a dark brown body. Head dissipates within a couple minutes with very little lacing. Nose is where it's at with this one. Chocolate! Tastes of chocolate which really overpowers most of the Heffe flavor. Feels good for a Heffe. Overall? Yes, no, and maybe! Smells like a stout, which is probably my favorite style, but I'm just going to say everyone should try this for themselves. Do it!

Not sure I understand the intentions of this beer. Collaboration with Burial Beer Co. and neither website has any information other than "imperial hefeweizen with chocolate". Anything with chocolate should soukid like a good idea but I'm not sure that panned out in practice. Looks like chocolate, smells mostly like chocolate and a little bready and the taste is is similar to the smell but with more yeast/bread character. I get the tiniest bit of banana and clove but nothing to write home about. Closer to fridge temp meant less flavor so maybe let this one warm a little but I'm not sure I would recommend it to begin with.

I give them credit for thinking outside the box but if you're going to Night Shift, stick with the sours and IPAs for their best beers.
