Pours dark maroon red brown with a creamy frothy khaki colored foam head. Smells like a myriad of caramel and roasted malts, some umami soy sauce, light smoke, chocolate, dark toffee, molasses, wine barrel, some honey, dark dried fruits, with floral earthy grassy hops. Tastes really interesting and different, almost like a Flanders red ale, a bit roasty, dark, fruity, vinous, malty, sour, with notes of dark malty caramel, chocolate, a hint of smoke, soy sauce, coffee roast, molasses, dark toffee, dark fruits, dried fruit, fig, prune, dates, dried apricot, vinous grapes, honey, white wine, oak barrel, a touch of vanilla, toasty biscuit, with earthy floral grassy hops. Feels medium bodied, slick with smooth moderate carbonation. Overall a real nice and interesting dark sour ale brewed with honey aged in sauvignon blanc barrels.

Bottle pour at the brewery.

Pours a deep, dark red.

Great smell, cherry and raspberry, along with oaky notes of vanilla.

Taste is just awesome! Oaky vanilla, rich cherries, and a bit of grape. Very deep, as it warmed, more and more fruity flavors came out. Complex stuff, unlike any American sour I've tried.

Mouthfeel is thick and oily, not very refreshing, but pretty heavy.

This was a terrific beer, reminded me most of some Rodenbachs I've had. Complex and deep, this is the beer version of jazz!
