Picked up a four-pack at the brewery; I'm a total mark for this style. I love the interplay between the roasted malt profile and the oftentimes grassy/piney hop-profile. Excited for this collaboration - seems like a style that could actually manage a couple of different perspectives coming to the table. Pours a muddled brownish-blackish hue out of the tallboy - looks like a watered down porter. That's the low point of the beer. The aroma is roasted malt, bitter chocolate and grassy hops - heavier on the malt than hops. Taste is a nice mix of roasty, grassy, and lightly piney flavors. Drinks smooth throughout and finishes with a pleasant pop from the carbonation. Bitter and slightly creamy. Super enjoyable beer that I wish was a seasonal; nice rendition of the style.

On tap at the brewery.
Pours a dark brownish red. Not really a looker...
Smell is very unexpected. I get a lot of figs and rosehips, which I got surprised by. Smells like Swedish Nyponsoppa (rosehip soup).
Taste is a bit roasted, with more rosehips and a bit of licorice. Really nice, but not what I thoguht I would get!
Mouthfeel is nice and soft, with godd carbonation.
This wqas one of the odder beers I had on my trip. Very nice and tasty, but black IPA? i don't know about that.

Pours cloudy dark brown with a creamy frothy khaki colored foam head. Smells like papaya, apricot, mango, grapefruit, orange citrus, pineapple, roasty toasted bready malts, some chocolate, nutty caramel, mild coffee, brown sugar, with dank earthy herbal grassy resinous floral pine. Tastes like roasty toasted bready malts, chocolate, nutty caramel, some coffee, brown sugar, papaya, apricot, mango, grapefruit, orange citrus, pineapple, with dank earthy herbal grassy resinous floral pine. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy with moderate carbonation. Overall a nice dark IPA.
