Pours a cloudy amber orange color with minimal off-white head. The head is gone quickly but leaves some splotches of lace as it goes.
The aroma brings notes of bread and green apple, with perhaps the faintest hint of bananas.
The flavor is odd and slightly off-putting. It's bready up front, with some banana notes not far behind. Then comes a wave of cloying sweetness that I can only describe as candied lemon and cough syrup. There's also a vegetal finish that is vaguely reminiscent of stewed carrots. What the hell am I drinking here?
The feel is light bodied with pretty hefty carbonation. Oily and the vegetal flavors stick around for way too long.
Overall, a pretty piss-poor example of a maibock. It's cloyingly sweet and has an awful aftertaste that refuses to go away. The feel is oily and thin and just doesn't work for me at all.
