Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass.

Pours a dark mahogany brown with a huge khaki head. The head leaves a nice ring of lacing before settling into a blanket of foam that rests atop the beer.

The aroma brings notes of sweet bread, caramel, dark fruits, and subtle chocolate.

The flavor is sweet up front, bringing notes of chocolate fudge, sweet dough and caramel. Finishes assertively hoppy and piney.

The feel is light bodied with moderate carbonation. Nicely crisp with just enough dryness to keep your face in the glass.

Overall, a pretty good Bock that's relatively well-balanced and flavorful. The hops are a tad aggressive, and the body a tad thin, but still a good all-around beer.

Neutral brown color and clear. Superb lacing (blankets and rings). Smaller head but it lasts.

True to the name, the aroma is all malt with darker Crystal and Chocolate versions dominating.

The taste reminds me more of an English Brown Ale than a Bock because (1) there's a notable bittering hop presence, and (2) the sweet molasses and toffee flavors are absent. Still, this a good and well-balanced beer. Low body for a Bock, richer than a typical Brown. Nice, lingering Crystal malt aftertaste.
