Canned 12/4/20

This is only my second schwarz ever, and I only had my first just a few days ago. I liked it, but I have a feeling that this will be even better

Pours a very dark brown with 2 fingers of beige head that quickly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing

The aroma is deep and rich yet crisp. I pick up notes of dark bread, citrusy hops, coffee, milk chocolate, light caramel, and a touch of golden raisin

The flavor starts off with notes of lemon, crisp bready malt, and a touch of coffee. The swallow brings notes of dry roasty coffee, grassy earthy hops, and dark slightly sweet bread

This beer is infinitely drinkable. A light body pairs with moderate carbonation creating a thin and easy drinking beer. Finishes dry and quite balanced

Another great Night Shift beer, and a great schwarzbier in general. Highly balanced and perfectly sessionsble

On tap at Lord Hobo in Cambridge, MA.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small white, and lots of lacing.

This is classic German black lager on the nose, with clean and refreshing roast, floral hops, very dark chocolate, and some spice.

I'm a sucker for this style for sure. It's got a clean roast and a tremendous malt backbone, all the remaining super crisp. It's strongly flavored without being heavy at all - the mark of a good schwarzbier. There's some very light smoke and chocolate, and the lightest hint of hop character.

This is light bodied, cleanly fermented, and just slightly creamy, with a very high level of drinkability.

Night Shift kind of surprisingly does lagers/lighter beer styles quite well. This is worth a look if you see it.

Brown color but light shines through the center of the glass. Apparently clear. Modest head which leaves some tight streaks on the glass.

Darker malt but there's also a soapy smell as a distraction. I'm not sure if it's because of the bar's cleaning practices. Semisweet darker roasted malt nose.

Higher carbonation but the moderate body is also elevated for the style. The flavor is chocolatey, more so than most Schwarzbiers. The finish isn't quite bitter but it is drier than the initial taste. Short aftertaste.
