I’m not sure what’s been going on lately with Night Shift; they used to have a new-to-me beer in my local store almost every week. They’re tied with Tree House for my most reviewed brewery, so it comes as a surprise to me that this is the first new one from them I’ve reviewed in almost 2 months! I have, however, been enjoying Night Shift lately in the form of their semi-new taproom at Encore Casino, a place I highly suggest
Pours a clear pale gold with 2 fingers of white head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing
The aroma is pretty much just as expected, but not at all to its detriment. I’m picking up on aromas of malted wheat, lemon juice, lime peel, fresh dough, and light coriander
In taste, however, it is a bit different than expected, focusing on the sweeter side of things, though still with a bite. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting lemon peel, white pepper, doughy malt, and light sea salt. The swallow brings notes of sweet orange, honey wheat bread, lime juice, doughy malt, and very light grassy hops
A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a airy and refreshing beer. Finishes mostly dry with a subtle tartness
Quite a solid beer. Definitely feels lighter than 6%
