Poured from a 16 ox can dated 1/21/22 into the test glass
A - Dark, almost black color, thin cap is quick to receed
S - Bakers chocolate, espresso, blackberry, a bit of char and toffee.
T - All those aromatics, with added char, and roasty malt
M - Medium in body, this offering has edges, with that espresso dry finish
O - A very good coffee stout, not bashful in any way. Well executed

From a 16 fl. oz. can dated /1/22. Sampled Feb 19, 2022.

It is an attractive looking dark brown to near black pour under a short-lived tan head.

The aroma. Can you say coffee? Espresso? Quite pungent on the nose with a lower profile dark roast and creaminess.

Medium or better mouthfeel. Creamy smooth.

The taste is all about the coffee rather than the sweet dark roasted malts. Earthy. There is so much of a coffee element to this, I wonder if the caffeine will keep me awake tonight.

Canned 1/21/22

There was a while there where I wasn’t seeing any new Night Shift beers at my local store, but lately every time I step in they have multiple. Just the way I like it. Let’s get into it

Pours a very dark brown with 2 fingers of tan head that quickly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing

The coffee absolutely dominates the nose on this one, it’s huge. I’m picking up on aromas of dark roast coffee, sweet vanilla, cocoa powder, spent coffee beans, and light caramel

As expected, this is still just staight up coffee in taste, but it works for what it is. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting fruity coffee, toffee, dark chocolate, light vanilla, and dark roast coffee. The swallow brings notes of dark roast coffee, chewy caramel, dark chocolate, light black cherry, and brown bread

A medium body pairs with moderate tingling carbonation, resulting in a surprisingly sharp beer. Finishes mostly dry with a nice roast

This is great. I expected it to be sweeter but I’m happy it focused on the roast more, ultimately creating a more drinkable beer

Poured into a 20 oz Snulip glass canned on 1/21/22. Pours a very dark brown with a solid finger light brown head that leaves some thin streaks of lace with really nice retention. 4.5

Aroma is simple, but really nice. Expresso, vanilla bean, caramel, and toffee. 4.5

Taste follows expresso is the key player, with vanilla stepping in, along with a little toffee and caramel. 4.5

Mouthfeel is above average, maybe a little dry, soft gentle slightly creamy carbonation, and at 8.0 plenty of flavor, but it goes down far too easy. 4.5

Overall I am real glad I decided to pull the trigger on this one. I kept questioning the purchase and I was wrong. A very tasty and well executed coffee stout. 4.5
