Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Firestone 16-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $20.00 for a 4-pack
From: Monkish Brewing Company in Torrance, Calif.
Purchased: Aug. 21, 2020
Consumed: Aug. 21, 2020
Misc.: Canned on Aug. 19, 2020
Was lucky enough to pick up a 4-pack of this one and other one with my stay up in Manhattan Beach. Monkish’s website called it, “Late beer for the late start of the Dodger season. Celebrating the zip code of our beloved Dodger Stadium. Double Dry Hopped (DDH) IPA with this year’s lineup of Citra, Nelson Sauvin, and Amarillo.” Sounded like a great beer to me.
Poured a golden mucky color with three fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see some bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Good spotty lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled bit Citra and Nelson up front, with Amarillo coming in on the backend. Specific characteristics were orange juice, orange blossom, orange creamsicle, tangerine, passion fruit, mango, peach, apricot, stone fruit, pineapple, grapefruit and gooseberry. Not quite as good from the can. (Smell - 4.50)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but still excellent. Once again a nice mix of Citra and Nelson, followed closely by Amarillo. Also orange juice, orange blossom, tangerine, passion fruit, peach, apricot, stone fruit, mango, pineapple, grapefruit, gooseberry, floral and lingering spicy pine. Grew on me each sip. (Taste - 4.25)
Light body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Juicy, spicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Overall just another excellent Monkish offering. Can’t wait to see this one develop. (Overall - 4.25)

What a bummer. This is definitely the weakest Monkish beer I have ever had. Almost no aroma, and then on my platinum tongue is just faint tropical fruity hops. Wow... This is like the early 2000’s when the Dodgers batted Alex Cora and Cesar Izturis at the bottom of the line up followed by the pitchers spot = offensive suicide.
Pass.

Hazy golden yellow , frothy white head, thin lace.
Sweet, tropical, no traces of bitterness: pure juice. Hints of passion fruit
More tropical, hardly any bitterness . Getting more passion fruit sweetness as well.
Smooth, a tad thin, but with effervescent carb and a good finish.

16 oz. can dated 10/11/17
Pours cloudy hazy opaque gold with a creamy frothy white foam head. Smells like big peach, apricot, mango, pineapple, orange citrus, grapefruit, lychee, caramelized bready crackery malts, with dank spicy resinous floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like peaches, apricot, mango, pineapple, orange citrus, grapefruit, lychee, caramelized bready crackery malts, with dank spicy resinous floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium bodied, creamy with moderate smooth carbonation. Overall a really nice juicy IPA.

Another fantastic monkish beer… Creamy, smooth, very little bitterness .... and Citra for days… Treehouse and monkish ---can't beat them
