Canned on 7/15/20; consumed on 8/7/20
Pours an opaque, bright, deep golden orange body topped with two fingers of soapy, white foam; great head retention yields a frothy, semi-creamy layer of cap and collar, while a comprehensive spread of splotchy lacing holds to the walls of the glass.
Aroma opens with subtle white grape and grapefruit pith upfront, furthered by accents of guava welcoming overripe peach and detailed tropical notes over the middle; dank moss continues an herbal undertone as musty basil closes.
Taste features dank gooseberry and zesty guava enhances with hints of dank lemon; fresh mango against prickly moss on the mid-palate guides into a zesty citric sweetness on the back end and finishing with sweet gooseberry, lychee, and musty wheat.
Mouthfeel shows a medium body against an airy, moderate carbonation; a naturally juicy texture persists across the palate as a brilliantly accentuated bitterness hovers in the background into the back end to firm a plush, bright swallow.
A perfectly balanced sweetness in an otherwise hop-forward and fairly bitter NEIPA, this brew is yet another example of the top-tier synchronicity with which Monkish imbues on the style; in this case, ths hops come across wild and unique, yet present with exceptional balance and composure.
