Man oh man, good lawwwd, child please does the Hunter ever love a good WCIPA. You feel me? West Coast Sound from Monkish, feat. Citra & Nelson hops. Shout out to Nelson. Mildly hazy amber. Nose is gooseberry, sweet biscuit, and a touch of diesel. Lots of gooseberry, grapefruit, and diesel on the taste, balanced by some complex biscuit and pine notes. Slight buttery note that is incongruous. A good old school west coast beer. Ain't nothin' like the old school. Peace.

Canned on 7/14/20; consumed on 7/29/20
Pours a translucent, soft honey gold body with faint orange accents and topped with two fingers of fluffy, white foam; good head retention yields a slight, frothy cap and collar along with a limited spread of dense, webby lacing around the glass.
Aroma opens with some brief peppery zest into dominant tones of dank, sweaty resin with deft accents of white grape must; a flaky malt sweetness advances on the bouquet steadily and backed by light citrus/tropical oils for a casual, rounded depth.
Taste features clean pine and touches of moss upfront, with a fleeting malt sweetness deep in the background; tangerine dankness develops alongside subtle white grape over the mid-palate as floral grassy tones proceed onto the back end; finish brings notes of lemon, bog, and fresh orange and grapefruit.
Mouthfeel offers a medium body supported by a brilliantly attenuated moderate carbonation; a steadfast, moderate bitterness and glistening resinous quality transition to rounded, boggy texture evolving over time; a bright, well-dispersed hop acidity plays harmoniously with a taut, malt backbone to highlight the back end of the palate.
A wholly composed West Coast IPA with a signature Nelson stank appearing subtly yet informing the profile comprehensively; this is balanced in bitterness, in resinous quality, and in presentation of fruity tones against the finer qualities of raw, fragrant hops; hugely drinkable, and a great success in the West Coast style for Monkish.
