Canned 08/11/20, ‘$5 BIN’.

Pours a foggy, hazy, opaque golden yellow. Small amounts of white head rise up and settle in a thin ring around the beer. This thing is straight murky, in all the best ways.

The nose is dank and resiny, featuring overripe tropical pineapple and fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice. On the back end there’s some sweet maltiness emerging, which I feel like can also be attributed to its cross-country journey to my doorstep.

The palate retains that stinging booziness I loved from the original Diggin’ and Diggin’, balanced perfectly by candied grapefruit and a lightly bitter, herbaceous hop base. Again, I think the constant temp changes from the last week has sped up the aging process on this, but it’s still drinking really well.

Mouthfeel is great; as usual no complaints in this department from anything Monkish. Smooth, with a medium carbonation and very subtle boozy warmth in the finish. Mild residual stickiness; this thing is a dangerous 10 percenter.

UPDATE: this opens up beautifully.. the malt dissipates and really allows those hops to really shine.

Sweet orange citrus, tropical hoppy, and dank nose on this one! Taste follows with some sweet orange citrus and a pineapple, tropical hoppy finish. This is soft, but also juicy on the palate...and hides the 10% ABV really well! Some small booziness notes start to come out only as it starts to warm. Outstanding!!!

Canned 8/9/19. Brewed with perhaps the most favored and epic couple of all time- Citra and Galaxy.
L: Pours hazy bright yellow with hues of orange. Embodies that luscious vibrant yellow color that I love in NEIPAs. About a finger of head formed from the pour with moderate amounts of lacing. The can design is also pretty neat, with a monk lurking behind stacks of colored crates. As a whole, I love the look.
S: Smells honestly fantastic. Sweet, ripe orange, mango, pineapple and tangerine with hints of banana and pomegranate. The yeast is noticeable adding an additional crackery aroma to the profile. The booze is noticeable from the get-go, making the brew smell even sweeter.
T: Delcious and just as you'd hope from a citra/galaxy offerings. Big and bold fruit flavors of citrus, pineapple and mango with the addition of peach and bubblegum. The finish is grassy and yeasty with a lingering sweetness. As evident from the nose, the booze is presence and in a good amount. However, this sweet hoppy goodness is delicious.
F: Medium in body and in weight. Moderate amounts of carbonation. The booze is anything but concealed but doesn't knock the integrity of the feel too terribly, just prevents it from being in the 4.5 range.
O: Though it is boozy, I am thoroughly enjoying it. Perhaps I should have enjoyed it fresher, but I still think it's great. I don't usually drink that many TIPAs, but I can vibe with this. I am very glad to try and would drink again. Cheers!
