its crazy how good this is, like i instantly get what all the hype is about for their hazy beer, and it makes me wonder how they are doing so much better than everyone else with more or less the same ingredients, like nelson rules yeah, and there is citra and mosaic and galaxy in this, but its not common, its unique, and that in and of itself is impressive, but the overall quality of the beer slaps so hard too, its epic. a favorite hazy for me so far this year, really fantastic. creamy and soft looking, pretty for a hazy, really pale yellow to white peach color, whitewashed looking under an almost nitro thick inch of lasting head, seriously it looks almost nitro capped. incredibly uniform haziness, thick without being sedimented in the yucky sense, and its very well carbonated too. the nose on this is fruit forward and almost resinous, candied, and concentrated, galaxy adds quite a lot, a lime leaf and lemon zest thing to the really popping white grape and green melon of the nelson, the catty side of the mosaic stays away, and i get light stone fruit, pineapple, and perhaps some unmalted wheat, very earthy at its core. not green at all, nor bitter, nor harsh, despite the boldness and the double dry hopping, and pretty much everything i smell is there in the flavor too. light mango and tropical juiciness, heavy citrus but leaning a little lime and lime candy to me, really early start on the hops too, like the second it hits my palate its boldly hoppy, suggesting maybe a cryo element. there is some sweetness here but it flatters the hops, floral white wine, lemongrass, a hint of vanilla cream somehow too, really good bubble hash, and restrained bitterness late. very good, well balanced by the grain thats in here, raw earthen cereals with as much texture as flavor, and this is super smooth and long and almost enriched feeling, really spectacular. freshness on point, sick to score this on draft, i wish more hazy ipa hit at this level, really in a class of its own...

Hazy opaque orange juice look to it. Definitely has an orange juice citrus smell with dank resiny hop back end. Flavor follows suit but with the bitterness taking a back seat to the citrus flavors. This is a good beer and I’ve rated it as such. But I’m telling you, if you’re on the other side of the country and chasing this beer like I was, I can almost guarantee you can find an equivalent and possibly a superior on your local store shelves. Cheers!

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England Double / Imperial IPA
Glass: Firestone 16-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $22.00 for a 4-pack
From: Monkish Brewing Company in Torrance, Calif.
Purchased: Aug. 26, 2020
Consumed: Aug. 26, 2020
Misc.: Canned on Aug. 26, 2020; Used to be named Sticky Green & Bad Traffic
Was lucky enough to pick up a 4-pack of this one and other one with my stay up in Manhattan Beach. Monkish’s website called it, “Double Dry Hopped (Double IPA) with Nelson Sauvin, Citra, Mosaic, and Galaxy hops (new shortened name of "Sticky Green & Bad Traffic"). Was looking forward to that hop combo.
Poured a golden murky color with four fingers of rocky-to-frothy white head. Could see just a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. World-class uneven foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled really good, getting characteristics of all four hops. In order got Nelson, Mosaic, Galaxy and Citra. Also passion fruit, viney berry, papaya, peach, orange, grapefruit, mango, guava and floral. Similar from the can. (Smell - 4.50)
Taste followed the nose, but not quite as good. In order got Nelson, Galaxy, Citra and Mosaic. Also passion fruit, papaya, viney berry, peach skin, orange, tangerine, mango, guava, grapefruit, floral and orange creamsicle late. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was excellent overall, and how could it not be with Monkish and those hops? (Overall - 4.25)
