Was lucky enough to pick up some Monkish once again while house sitting in Manhattan Beach. Was intrigued by this one as the online description read, “TRIPLE Dry Hopped (TDH) Double IPA w/ GALAXY hops. The TDH version of Beats Is Infinite and Planets Gotta Roll. The most Galaxy hops we’ve put in a beer thus far. 8.3% ABV. #UniversalVerses.” If it’s anything like Galactic Rhymes (4.50) than I’m all in.
Poured a golden murky color with 2-to-3 fingers of off-white frothy-to-fizzy head. Could see some bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Good watery lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled huge Galaxy as well as peach, apricot, nectarine, stone fruit, passionfruit, pine and hints of caramel. Smell was even better from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose but still solid. Tons of Galaxy as well as peach, apricot, nectarine, stone fruit, caramel candy, passionfruit, dish soap and lingering black pepper. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.75)
Not as good as I hoped, but still outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)
