Glass: North Park 16.5-oz. Munique glass
Price: $19.00 for a 4-pack
From: Monkish Brewing Company in Torrance, Calif.
Purchased: Aug. 28, 2020
Consumed: Aug. 28, 2020
Misc.: Canned on Aug. 27, 2020
Was lucky enough to pick up a 4-pack of this one and other one with my stay up in Manhattan Beach. Monkish’s website called it, “Double Dry Hopped (DDH) West Coast IPA with Cascade and Citra. Unfiltered.” Not sure I’ve had a West Coast IPA from Monkish. Was looking forward to it.
Poured a medium yellow semi-hazy color with three fingers of frothy white head. Could not really see any bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent uneven foamy lacing. Excellent foamy retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled both Cascade and Citra right away. Also fresh pine, lime, citrus zest, grapefruit, herbal, menthol and wet grass. Much of the same form the can with the addition of some peppery spice. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste was not quite as good as the nose. In order got Cascade, fresh pine, lime, citrus zest, Citra, peppery spice, vegetable, herbal, menthol, mint, bitter aspirin, grapefruit and wet grass. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Probably overrated this slightly, but outstanding for a West Coast IPA overall. (Overall - 4.00)
