Got three Monkish beers and a few others from Dave when he was in San Diego. Although this was a bit behind my usual rule of 60 days (I’d rather it be under 30) (it was 79 days), I decided to give it a full review basically because it was Monkish and most likely it was released well too early anyway. An online description I found for this one was a “DDH DIPA with a healthy blend of Madagascar and Ugandan vanilla beans.”

Poured a medium yellow-to-light golden hazy color with three fingers of rocky white head. Plenty of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Almost perfect uneven foamy spiderweb lacing. Almost perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)

Really liked this smell. Got vanilla, orange, orange creamsicle, orange blossom, floral, vanilla wafer cookie and vanilla milkshake. Not quite as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted almost as good as the nose. In order got vanilla, orange, orange creamsicle, orange blossom, floral, vanilla wafer cookie and vanilla milkshake. (Taste - 4.25)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.25)

I really liked this one. Seemed more like a milkshake IPA than a hazy DIPA but online description I saw said it did not contain milk sugar. (Overall - 4.25)

Sweet orangesicle hoppy and floral vanilla nose on this one! Uh-oh...am I picking up some children's aspirin/medicinal vibes? Taste follows with an orange citrus hoppy and vanilla bean bitter swallow. Decent, but I differ from most who have had this...I think that this needs the milk sugar addition like Space Cookie. That makes the transition from the citra hoppy notes to the vanilla notes smoother...and brings a creaminess to the finish which helps tame the bitterness on the backend IMO.
