sick to get to drink a beer from these guys on draft, pretty infamous stuff, not this one necessarily, but like their hazy beer in general is stuff of legend, and without any kind of access i was fired up to see this in my travels, tasty indeed, but even a smallish pour is somewhat of a commitment, this is so packed with hops and body its heavy on the tongue and in the belly, was with me for awhile after it was gone, and a much less food compatible beer than i think i was anticipating, its kind of a meal on its own, not quite novelty level, but who is having five of these? massively double dry hopped with strata, galaxy, simcoe, and motueka, and the hop profile is indeed fantastic, but this is a lot to chew on, quite literally. pale whitewashed straw colored brew with light orange in it, an airy inch of white head from the faucet, very thick and dense but without any visible particulate to it, its dense without being messy per se, and the carbonation is there. aroma and flavor of green melon and kiwi fruit, melon rind too, verdant and even a little green, some pellet character coming through, but also white wine grapes, white peaches, and a cool citrusy side that leans grapefruit forward, light vanilla, white coconut, and slight sweetness too, some hop oils on the palate and an up front intensity, low bitterness but some burn anyway due to the dosage rate, i think simcoe and motueka out in front of the others, but some lime character from the galaxy is also present, and they come together well, if enormous, in this. i like the fruitiness and the pungency to an extent, but this feels a little overdone to me, like it stands out not for being objectively great but for being so robust, and for a brewery with this much hype, i expected a bit more. yes its fresh and its good and all of that, but this did not strike me as elite, sad to say. still very good, and maybe i am being too critical because of how high my expectations were. filling and long on the palate, nice hop mix but overpowering also, a little softer touch i think would improve this, but it certainly made a palate memory. hard to believe its this low alcohol, it drinks like a double to me even without any alcohol presence...
